The silence after sacrifice

The silence after sacrifice
The Silence After Sacrifice” I once carried her dreams like they were my own. Stayed awake when she cried, worked extra hours just to keep her world from falling apart. I gave up my time, my peace, even parts of myself, just to see her smile again. When everyone else left, I stayed. When doors closed, I knocked for her. When storms came, I held the umbrella, even when the rain soaked me through. She said, “I’ll never forget this.” I believed her. Because loyalty blinds you when love is sincere. Then one day, she didn’t call back. Her laughter found new company. Her world became brighter, but I wasn’t in it. Now she has everything she once cried for. And me? I became the shadow that once carried her light. It’s funny how people forget the hands that held them before they could stand. They get what they want, and suddenly you’re a chapter they no longer read. Still, I whisper no bitterness, only truth: > “Be good to the people who lift you when you’re low, for one day, you might fall and find no one there to catch you.” 🌙
